Keeping our children safe online

At St John the Baptist Catholic Primary School, online safety is an important part of our safeguarding responsibilities. We are committed to helping children use the internet and digital technologies safely, responsibly and confidently, both in school and at home.

This page provides guidance, resources and support for pupils, parents and carers, and the wider school community.

Worried about something online?

If you are worried about how someone has been communicating with a child online, or something a child has seen or experienced, it is important to act quickly.

  • Encourage children to speak to a trusted adult at home or school
  • Concerns can be shared with a member of school staff
  • Further support is available through the organisations listed below

Information for Parents and Carers

We work closely with parents and carers to support children’s online safety beyond school.

Helpful guidance includes:

  • Setting parental controls
  • Managing screen time
  • Talking to children about staying safe online
  • Making devices more secure

Information for Pupils

Children are taught how to use the internet safely and responsibly as part of our curriculum and safeguarding programme.

Pupils learn:

  • How to keep personal information safe
  • How to behave respectfully online
  • What to do if something online makes them feel worried or unsafe

At the start of each school year, pupils and parents/carers sign a Pupil Acceptable Use Agreement, setting clear expectations for safe internet use.

Children are encouraged to:
