Parents Association - St John the Baptist Catholic Primary School, Normanton

Parents Association

Welcome to your Parents’ Association

All parents and carers at St John the Baptist Catholic Primary School are invited to become members of the Parents’ Association (PA) once their child is enrolled.

The PA brings families, staff and the wider community together to support the school and enrich the experience of every child. It is inclusive, flexible, and designed to fit around busy family life.

What is the Parents’ Association?

The St John’s Parents’ Association is a friendly and welcoming group of parent volunteers who work alongside the school to support learning, wellbeing and enrichment opportunities for pupils.

The PA is a registered charity, independent of the school, but working closely with staff and governors to benefit all children.

How you can get involved

Your PA, Your Way

We understand that every family’s circumstances are different. From September 2025, the PA offers three flexible ways to get involved, allowing you to choose what works best for you.

  • Hold an official role within the charity

  • Support may include:
    • Event set-up
    • Helping during events
    • Event close-down

The most important thing you can bring to the Parents’ Association is enthusiasm and a willingness to get involved — for as much or as little time as you are able.

  • Everyone is invited and automatically included
  • You do not need specific skills or experience
  • You can get involved as much or as little as you wish
  • It will not take over your life
  • It benefits children, families, the school and the wider community

Being part of the PA is a positive way to feel connected to school life while supporting your child’s education.

The Parents’ Association plays an important role in strengthening the school community.

Through its work, the PA:

  • Raises funds to enhance the school environment and pupil experiences
  • Builds strong relationships between families, staff and pupils
  • Provides opportunities for parents to have a voice
  • Encourages community involvement and shared responsibility

Active parent engagement helps create a supportive and thriving school culture.

The Parents’ Association organises fundraising and community events throughout the year.

Recent activities have included events such as the Monster Mash Disco and Christmas Fayre, alongside support for popular school initiatives.

Funds raised have been used to:

  • Provide experiences and treats for all pupils, including ice creams during pantomime visits
  • Support improvements to school resources, including sound and gym equipment
  • Enhance whole-school activities that benefit every child
