Pupil Premium
At St John the Baptist Catholic Primary School, we are committed to ensuring that every child is supported to achieve their full potential, regardless of their background or circumstances.
The Pupil Premium is additional funding provided by the government to help schools improve outcomes for disadvantaged pupils. This includes pupils who are eligible for free school meals, have been eligible in the past, or are looked after by the local authority.
Our approach at St John the Baptist
Pupil Premium funding is used carefully and strategically to remove barriers to learning and to support pupils’ academic progress, wellbeing and wider development.
Our approach focuses on:
High expectations for all pupils, delivered through an ambitious and inclusive curriculum
Targeted academic support, particularly in reading, writing and maths
Pastoral and wellbeing support, helping pupils feel safe, confident and ready to learn
Improving attendance and engagement, working closely with families
Ensuring equal access to enrichment, including trips, visits and wider experiences
Decisions about how funding is used are informed by evidence, including guidance from the Education Endowment Foundation (EEF), and are regularly reviewed to ensure the support provided is making a positive difference.
We publish a detailed Pupil Premium Strategy Statement, which explains:
How much funding the school receives
The key challenges faced by disadvantaged pupils
How funding is allocated
The impact of previous spending
How the strategy is monitored and reviewed
This strategy covers the period 2024–2027 and is reviewed annually.
