SATs Parental Meeting

Y6 Reading, Writing and Maths Expectations for Parents

Welcome to  Year 6!

This next term we will be extremely busy learning! Please try your best to encourage regular and punctual attendance, and full participation in all homework activities.

This is such an important year for the children and we are working hard in preparation for SATs.

We are supported by the class teacher, Mrs Scott and teaching assistant, Mrs Verity.

Children have chosen reading books (from our Year 6 Recommended Reads, the school library or their own) and we strongly recommend that they spend time each night reading those, as well as their own reading books.  In their reading respond books, children should comment on what they have read, enjoyed and they can comment on characters, storylines and more!  In order to receive a reading merit, children should ensure they bring their completed reading respond books to class each morning to be stamped.

Throughout the year, pupil progress is monitored very closely to ensure all children achieve the very best they can. Please continue to support them with their revision, and help them by ensuring that they follow a regular bed time routine, receive plenty of sleep and a eat hearty breakfast!

We run a number of booster and intervention groups to help extend and consolidate learning, in any way that we can to ensure children are confident with their learning and objectives.  This will commence in January.  Please do not hesitate to contact us if you need anything!

Please check the class newsletter for our termly plans.
